Building community, one story at a time.

Show 7: Generative story telling workshop
2nd May, 2025
The first WaW storytelling workshop on May 2nd went well. 14 attendees learnt about story telling from show creator Chandreyee then worked on thier stories in small groups of 2 with coaches. An open mic at the end was full of wonderful story drafts created through the evening that covered the gamut of human experience and showed once again that we are all story tellers and every story is worth sharing.
Partially funded by a grant from the Jones Foundation Partnership

About this event
The usual Big WaW show (6 tellers, 90 audience members) will be replaced this spring with a workshop where Waltham community members can prepare to cross-over from viewer seats to the stage. Assembled in a small group, they will learn how to find and craft effective, meaningful stories from their life experiences. Note: No room for fiction, poetry, hate, violence or politics.
The workshop will be run by show creator and storyteller Chandreyee Lahiri but attendees will also work on their own story ideas in smaller groups led by coaches who are skilled tellers and alumni of the WaW show. It's a chance to build skills in communication and public-speaking as well as crafting story pitches for WaW and other storytelling shows.
✔️20-25 attendees total. A smaller group for more attention.
✔️2 coaching experiences for each person.
✔️A chance (random draw) to share your story with the whole group at the end.
✔️Connecting with the storyteller community.
✔️Light refreshments provided.
